1.Introduction

This Privacy Policy applies to the Point of Sales Person ("POSP") Platform ("Platform"), operated by Jio Insurance Broking Limited ("Company", "JIBL", "we", "our", or "us"), a Direct Insurance Broker registered with the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India ("IRDAI") under Registration No 347. This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard the personal information of individuals ("you" "User" or "Users")who register, onboard, undergo training, and seek certification through our Platform available via website or mobile application.

The Platform enables you to complete registration, KYC verification, mandatory training, and examination to assess eligibility for appointment as a Point of Sales Person ("POSP"). By accessing or using this Platform, you consent to the practices described in this Policy.

2. APPLICABILITY

This Privacy Policy applies to all individuals who access, register, or use the Platform. This policy is in accordance with applicable Indian laws, including the Information Technology Act, 2000, the IRDAI (Insurance Brokers) Regulations, 2018, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

Applicable Law: Includes the Information Technology Act, 2000, the SPDI Rules, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, IRDAI regulations and other relevant laws.

Personal Data: Any data that relates directly or indirectly to an identifiable individual, including sensitive personal data such as Aadhaar, PAN, health, and financial details.

Platform: The digital portal of the Company used for user registration, KYC, training, examination, and potential business facilitation.

User: An individual registered on the Platform for the purpose of training, certification, and potential appointment as a POSP.

3. CONSENT AND ACKNOWLEDGMENT

By using this Platform and registering as a User, you confirm that:

  • You have read, understood, and agree to this Policy.
  • You grant consent to the collection, use, sharing, storage, and processing of your Personal Data by the Company as per this Policy and the Applicable Law.
  • You authorize the Company to contact you through phone, email, SMS, WhatsApp, or other communication channels, even if you are registered under DND/NCPR.

4. WHAT PERSONAL DATA WE COLLECT?

We may collect the following categories of data:

a) IDENTITY & CONTACT INFORMATION
  • Full Name, Father’s/Mother’s Name, DOB, Gender, Photograph
  • PAN and Aadhaar (voluntarily submitted for verification)
  • Email address, phone/mobile number, residential address
b) PROFESSIONAL & EDUCATIONAL DETAILS
  • Education qualification certificates (e.g., 10th Pass certificate)
  • Other relevant certificates and marksheets required for eligibility checkss
c) KYC DATA (apart from what is collected under “IDENTITY & CONTACT INFORMATION”)
  • Live Photo/Video (for KYC verification))
  • Digital signatures
  • IP address, device ID during the verification process
d) TRAINING & CERTIFICATION DATA
  • Training attendance logs, module completion status
  • Examination scores, results, and dates
  • Assessment documents and certification records
e) FINANCIAL & TRANSACTIONAL DATA
  • Bank account details (Account number, IFSC) for penny-drop verification
  • Bank passbook copy or cancelled cheque
  • If appointed as POSP: Commission data, payouts, and incentives earned
f) DEVICE, USAGE & TECHNICAL DATA
  • Browser type, session history, device type
  • Login metadata, cookies, usage logs, clicks
g) THIRD-PARTY/REFERRAL DATA
  • Employer or partner referral information
  • Data obtained through Account Aggregators or government APIs (VAHAN, CKYC, UIDAI) for verification purposes

5. COLLECTION AND USE OF NON-PERSONAL INFORMATION

In addition to Personal Data, we may collect certain Non-Personal Information (NPI) when you access or interact with our Platform. This information, by itself, does not identify you personally but helps us understand usage patterns and improve our services.

EXAMPLES OF NON-PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT
  • Device information such as device type, operating system, screen size, and browser version
  • IP address, time zone, network service provider, and general location (city/region)
  • Platform usage patterns: page views, click paths, training module time logs, login/logout timestamps
  • Error codes, crash diagnostics, and session flow analytics
  • Referral source, campaign metadata (e.g., UTM parameters, QR scan codes)
HOW WE USE THIS DATA
  • To enhance the Platform's stability, performance, and user experience
  • To analyze training module effectiveness and agent engagement
  • To detect suspicious or unauthorized activities
  • To support debugging and system diagnostics
  • For marketing campaign evaluation and optimization
  • To generate aggregated statistical insights that do not identify any individual

We may also combine or anonymize this data for analytics and reporting. Such de-identified or aggregated data may be shared with our partners, government authorities, or used internally without compromising your privacy.

6. MODE OF DATA COLLECTION

  • Directly provided by you via digital forms and uploads
  • Captured during KYC and remote verification processes
  • Collected through third-party verification agencies, if authorized by you
  • Automatically captured during use of the portal or app (cookies, device info, location)
  • From public databases or regulators (e.g. VAHAN, UIDAI) with consent

7. PURPOSE OF COLLECTION AND USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

Your data is collected and processed for the following purposes:

  • To register you on the Platform and evaluate your eligibility for POSP appointment
  • To complete mandatory KYC, background and verification checks
  • To deliver mandatory training modules and conduct examinations
  • To maintain records of certifications and regulatory approvals
  • To enable access to insurance products (subject to successful appointment)
  • For communication related to your registration, training, or business activities
  • To address queries and resolve service requests
  • To personalize and improve our platform features and offerings
  • To enforce our terms and meet contractual obligations
  • To inform you about service updates, promotions, offers, and industry trends
  • Detecting fraud, identity theft, impersonation, or misrepresentation
  • Sharing with IRDAI or law enforcement when legally required
  • Maintaining compliance logs, and audit trails
  • To comply with regulatory and legal obligations

8. SHARING AND DISCLOSURE OF YOUR INFORMATION

We may share your Personal Data, strictly on a need-to-know basis and in accordance with Applicable Law, with the following categories of recipients:

  • a. REGULATORY AND STATUTORY AUTHORITIES

    We may disclose your information to the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), government agencies, law enforcement bodies, or judicial authorities as required under law, including for compliance with licensing, training, and audit obligations.

  • b. INSURER PARTNERS AND SERVICE PROVIDERS

    We share your data with insurer partners, empaneled training entities, certification agencies, and background verification partners to complete your onboarding, registration, and enablement under applicable guidelines.

  • c. TECHNOLOGY AND INFRASTRUCTURE VENDORS

    We engage cloud service providers, hosting companies, analytics platforms, and customer support tools to operate and improve the Platform.

  • d. AFFILIATES AND GROUP ENTITIES

    We may share data with our group companies or affiliates for joint business purposes or integrated services, such as payroll or field servicing.

  • e. FRAUD PREVENTION AND RISK CHECKS

    We may share data with third-party fraud detection tools or agencies to prevent identity theft, misrepresentation, or impersonation.

  • f. ANONYMIZED OR AGGREGATED DATA

    We may use and share aggregated data (which cannot identify you individually) for business insights, analytics, or reporting.

  • g. BUSINESS TRANSFERS

    In the event of a merger, acquisition, asset sale, or restructuring of JIBL, your data may be shared or transferred as part of that transaction, with appropriate safeguards

  • h. WITH YOUR CONSENT

    In specific cases where you opt into a service or integration, we may share your data with selected partners with your explicit consent.

We do not sell your personal information to any third party. All disclosures are made under strict confidentiality and only for lawful, legitimate purposes.

9. COOKIES AND TRACKING TOOLS

We may use cookies, pixel tags, web beacons, mobile device IDs, “flash cookies” and similar files or technologies to collect and store information in respect to Your use of the Platform. You can erase or choose to disable/block these cookies through Your Device/browser settings. You can configure Your browser to alert You when we attempt to send You a cookie with an option to accept or refuse the cookie. If You have turned cookies off, You may be prevented from using certain features of the Platform and this may interfere with certain functionality of the Platform.

10.DEVICE AND SOCIAL LOGIN DATA

We may collect:

  • IP address, OS type, device make and model, time/date stamp
  • Social login data (if applicable), including your name, profile image, or email from Google/Facebook if used to register
  • Network metadata, browser version, crash logs

11. THIRD-PARTY EXTENSIONS AND ADD-ONS

Our Platform does not install or use browser extensions or plugins. If such features are introduced, we will obtain your explicit consent.

12. DATA RETENTION

We retain your information for as long as required under applicable laws and regulatory guidelines, or until necessary for our lawful business purposes, whichever is later. Post-deactivation or termination, certain data may be retained for audit, taxation and compliance requirements.

13. DATA SECURITY

We employ appropriate technical and organizational security measures at all times to protect the information we collect from you. We use multiple electronic, procedural, and physical security measures to protect against unauthorized or unlawful use or alteration of information, and against any accidental loss, destruction, or damage to information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. Therefore, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. Further, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of your login id and password, and may not provide these credentials to any third party.

14. CROSS-BORDER DATA TRANSFER

We store and process your data in India. If any cross-border data transfer becomes necessary (e.g., cloud processing), it will be done in compliance with Indian laws and adequate safeguards.

15. INFORMATION FROM EMPLOYERS OR REFERRAL PARTNERS

If your employer, business partner, or referrer submits your details, we rely on their assurance that you have provided consent. Such data will be handled under this Privacy Policy.

16. YOUR RIGHTS

As a User, you have the following rights:

  • Right to Access: Request copy or summary of personal data we process.
  • Right to Correction: Request update, rectification, or completion.
  • Right to Erasure: Seek deletion (subject to legal/regulatory necessity).
  • Right to Withdraw Consent: You may revoke consent at any time; however, doing so may deactivate your account or restrict functionality.

17. COMMUNICATION AND CONSENT

By registering on the Platform, you explicitly authorize us to send communications via email, SMS, WhatsApp, in-app notifications, or calls, regardless of your TRAI DND status. You can manage preferences via your profile settings or by contacting us. Email messages sent via the Internet are not guaranteed to be secure. While JIBL takes all appropriate measures to protect its systems, we cannot ensure the integrity or confidentiality of any email communication exchanged with us. JIBL will not be liable for any damages, losses, or unauthorized access resulting from the use of email for such communications.

18. LINKS TO OTHER SITES

Our portal may contain links to third-party websites or partner portals. We are not responsible for their privacy practices or content. Users are advised to read the privacy policy of those sites before sharing any information.

19. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

We may amend or modify the Privacy Policy at any time, as and when the need arises. We request you to regularly check this Privacy Policy from time to time to keep you apprised of changes made in the Policy. Your continued use of the Platform gives your unconditional acceptance to such changes in terms of Privacy Policy.

20. JURISDICTION

This Privacy Policy and your use of the Platform shall be governed by the laws of India. Disputes, if any, shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Mumbai, Maharashtra.
